Date: October 19, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Location: Silver Creek, BC

The Shuswap Amateur Radio Club (SARC) proudly supported the Rock Hound Race, a dirt bike event with approximately 200 participants. Club members volunteered to provide reliable communication between the race base and a remote checkpoint along the course.

Two stations were deployed:

  • Base Station at the start/finish line
  • Safety Monitoring Station positioned mid-course to relay important updates to the base, including any health concerns or emergency-related information

The race began around 11:00 AM. Communications were conducted via simplex on 146.520 MHz and through the VE7RNH repeater. Signal quality was excellent throughout the event, with no reported issues.

Volunteer Team:

  • Phil VE7BPH, Robin VE7HMN, Gary VE7GSZ and Peter J VE7PAE and
  • Al VE7CAL remained in Salmon Arm, providing backup support

This volunteering effort was organized by Aiden, a new member of the radio club. Aidan and his family generously assisted with logistics and transportation, ensuring smooth coordination and support for radio club volunteers. A heartfelt thank-you to Aidan and his family for their dedication and hospitality.

Despite forecasts of rain, the weather held up well—mostly dry with only light drizzle. No accidents or emergencies occurred. All volunteers returned home safely.
