On Saturday, August 30th, the radio club organized a visit and inspection of the VE7RNH repeater equipment located at Fly Hill. The road to the repeater was mostly passable, with the exception of a few spots where fallen trees were present, but safe passage was still possible. Weather conditions were favorable — sunny, dry, and very warm. The roads were dry but uneven in places, requiring careful and slow driving. The expedition was carried out with two vehicles, maintaining constant radio communication throughout the trip.
At the site, a thorough inspection of the facility and equipment was conducted. Measurements of transmitter power, antenna tuning, and checks of battery and solar panel conditions were performed. All equipment was found to be in proper working order. A controller replacement had been planned, but the new controller did not function as expected, so the existing one remained in use. Before departure, the proper operation of the repeater was confirmed.
The roof of the facility and the repairs carried out the previous year were also inspected. The condition was assessed as acceptable, although signs of water leakage were observed on the floor.
On the return trip, several fallen trees were removed to allow unobstructed passage for the vehicles.
The team participating in the inspection included: Phil VE7BPH, Robin VE7HMN, Mike VE7LOG, Gary VE7GSZ, and Peter J. VE7PAE.
