QMR Service Trip August 17th, 2019

The service visit was very successful, although quite difficult to achieve due to slippery conditions and mechanical problems with two of the quads.  The batteries were topped up, the APRS antenna and mast were replaced as was the cat5 sensor cable between the trailer and shack.

QMR is now receiving APRS packets more reliably with the new antenna, resulting in more detailed tracking of moving vehicles and reception from greater ranges – QMR heard Little White Mountain at a 147km distance.  Other stations are receiving QMR’s APRS better too – PUNTZI near Alexis Creek heard QMR from 390.7 km away!
